We are pleased to bring you our Fall/Winter Schedule of Classes & Workshops. After a relaxing summer we have a full selection of interesting projects for you to consider. We strongly suggest that students wear a carving glove or thumb/finger guards to prevent the odd nick or cut that is inevitable in this hobby!
We try to keep our class sizes under 8 people in order to ensure that everyone gets the attention that they need. For this reason we ask that you register quickly in order to avoid disappointment. Please remember that we do enforce a cancellation policy if a student cancels within 2 weeks or less of a course. The fee for canceling is $50.00.Tthis is due to the fact that we reserve a space for you and prepare materials for you.
Songbird Crash Course- The Chickadee Beginner This is a great class for someone who is thinking they may like carving and wants to get their feet wet. Students will learn the basics of roughing, shaping, detailing and painting while creating this fun little bird. This is the Coles notes of woodcarving- join this class for a fun and productive day! Wood Burning/Pyrography Beginner This is a fun and relaxing way to spend a day while discovering a popular emerging hobby. Students will learn the various tips and techniques required to creating a lifelike ‘picture’ with a wood burning tool. Barn Owl- 8 Consecutive Friday Afternoons Intermediate/Advanced This class is suitable for those students that have a fair bit of experience carving. Students MUST have a micro tool and wood burner. This is a relaxed atmosphere to fine tune your wood carving skills. Haida Panel Beginner This is an interesting lesson on Haida Carving. Students will learn the fundamentals behind this thoughtful art while creating a beautiful and distinct piece. Whimsical Bark House Any Level Definitely one of our most popular classes- the Whimsical Bark House is a fun and relaxing day of carving for any level of carver. Drop into the store anytime to see various samples of this unique form of carving. Butternut Shark Beginner/Intermediate Always popular, our butternut whale class is sure to fill quickly. This time Bruce has decided to do Humpback Whale, which is a majestic and beautiful project. Basic Sharpening Demo The key to happy carving is sharp tools. If your tools are at all dull then you are not getting all the enjoyment you can out of this wonderful hobby. Power Tools & Accessories Demo The world of power carving is vast and sometimes overwhelming. Come for an afternoon of useful information that will dispel the uncertainties that you have regarding power tools and all the accessories that come along with them. Students will learn about the different power tools, their accessories and maintaining them. This is a great seminar for those that already have power tools and anyone considering buying one.
